Who is it for?

For you if:

✓ You're intermediate / B1 to native level

✓ You can read a short article in French but freeze when writing

✓You love writing — or you've always wanted to

✓ You're tired of consuming French and want to start producing

✓ You want to keep French alive — without the pressure of a class

Not quite for you if:

✗ You're an absolute beginner (A1/A2)

✗ You're looking for grammar drills or DELF exam prep — there are great programs for that

What a fun way to explore your writing skills! The one week reflection and writing time makes this workshop perfect for a busy schedule.
— Emilie, native speaker
Candice helps you explore your inner creativity and makes you feel comfortable to share your unique stories.
— Ana, advanced level
I really enjoyed the workshop and would like to continue this as an on-going class.
— Sandie, intermediate level

It’s a space to produce French, not just consume it.

Each week, you write from a creative prompt; an image, a song, a first line, an object, a memory, or a playful constraint.

I respond like a writing coach, not like a teacher correcting homework: to your ideas, your voice, and your rhythm, with light grammar notes only when they help the text become clearer.

You receive creative feedback, encouragement to go further, a safe space to experiment in French, and the joy of being read.

The result: you write more, express yourself more freely, and reconnect with French naturally.

What makes it special?

Four weeks. One prompt per week. Everything by email.

  1. Wednesday morning — you receive your prompt

A real launching pad: a song, a painting, an incipit (the first line of a French novel), or an object. Plus three questions to start, an optional creative constraint, and a literary example.

  2. During the week — you write at your own pace

Off-topic is fine. Imperfect is the point. Write at the café, on the train, before bed — whenever works.

  3. Monday — you send me your text

I respond the next Wednesday. A literary comment, a few grammatical notes when they unlock meaning, and one suggestion to push further next week.

Hello there,
I’m Candice.

For years, I've been working with French learners of all ages,
bilingual children growing up far from France, and adults reconnecting with the language they love.
Helping them stay connected to French through imagination and storytelling.

My approach blends creative tools, gentle pedagogy, and deep respect for each voice.

Because when we feel safe, we create!

Originally from Guadeloupe, I lived in Paris before moving to California in 2019 with my three children. They were 12, 10, and 6 when we left. I built this workshop because I saw it firsthand at home: my kids kept speaking French with us, but the moment they sat down to draw, invent a game, or write a story, they did it in English. Written French was becoming a chore.

So I built the space I wished existed for them. Along the way, I realized adult learners needed the same thing: a real reader, real prompts, real encouragement. So I extended the space.

I also write myself, so I know how enjoyable, and how hard, it can be ^^.
If you want to get to know me, here are some of my short stories.

A woman with long brown hair smiling while writing in a notebook. She is sitting at a table in a bright room with large windows, green plants, and a wicker chair in the background.

Common questions

  • Comfortable at B1 (intermediate) minimum. If you can read a Le Monde article with a dictionary nearby, you're ready. Not sure? Write me a paragraph in French through the contact form — I'll tell you honestly.

  • Light grammatical notes when they unlock meaning, but this isn't a grammar workshop. The goal is fluency through practice, not perfection through drills. Different muscle.

  • Welcome. The workshop is 100% online and works from anywhere. Payments work internationally.

  • Absolutely. Each session is fully independent — different prompts, fresh cohort. You can join Session 1, Session 2, both, or just one. Whatever fits your summer.

  • Workshops are non-refundable. Because each cohort is small, spots are committed at registration.

  • Wonderful! And quite common in this workshop. Many parents who join end up inscribing their children too (or the other way around). I run a parallel cohort for kids and teens ages 8 to young adults, with the same gentle approach, adapted prompts, and personal feedback. See the kids workshop →
