Hello there,
I’m Candice.
For years, I've been working with French learners of all ages,
bilingual children growing up far from France, and adults reconnecting with the language they love.
Helping them stay connected to French through imagination and storytelling.
My approach blends creative tools, gentle pedagogy, and deep respect for each voice.
Because when we feel safe, we create!
Originally from Guadeloupe, I lived in Paris before moving to California in 2019 with my three children. They were 12, 10, and 6 when we left. I built this workshop because I saw it firsthand at home: my kids kept speaking French with us, but the moment they sat down to draw, invent a game, or write a story, they did it in English. Written French was becoming a chore.
So I built the space I wished existed for them. Along the way, I realized adult learners needed the same thing: a real reader, real prompts, real encouragement. So I extended the space.
I also write myself, so I know how enjoyable, and how hard, it can be ^^.
If you want to get to know me, here are some of my short stories.
Common questions
-
Yes — that's actually the most common case. Some kids join the workshop saying "I don't like writing" or "I have no ideas." The prompts are designed exactly for them. Three minutes, an image, and they're off!
-
Absolutely. The workshop is a creative space for any child who wants to write differently. Without grades, without right answers, without performance.
-
This is not a spelling or grammar class. My feedback focuses first on ideas, confidence, structure and voice. I may point out a few language patterns when useful, but the goal is to make writing in French feel alive again.
-
Absolutely. Prompts arrive by email. Your child writes whenever and wherever.
-
Your child needs to be comfortable reading a short email in French and writing a few sentences. For kids in French immersion just starting to write, contact me first — we'll figure out together if it's the right time.
-
Yes - each session is fully independent. You can join Session 1, Session 2, or both. There’s no prerequisite, and each session is designed to be a complete experience on its own.
-
Yes! and you wouldn't be the first. I run a parallel workshop for adult, with the same gentle approach and personal feedback, adapted for grown-up voices and schedules. [See the adults workshop →]

Prompts and feedback are in French. Children write in French, at their own level. Parent communication can be in English or French.
